Iconic rockers are scheduled to unite and form a supergroup that will open the 2012 Olympic games in London.

David Bowie and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page have already signed up to become part of the historic group. Some reports claim that Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger has expressed interest in “making his own gesture.”

While Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are suspected to be “long shots,” rock legends such as Phil Collins, Sting, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, and Elton John may be expected to take part.

A source reveals to OK! Magazine that the famous performers may "take over the field on a giant stage." The insider adds, "The Olympics people hope to use the template of the American football Super Bowl half-time show. Having the Stones on side for a project like this is a huge deal."
