Chicago Sun-Times reported that it was the Tour de France champ who decided to call it quits because Goldie Hawn’s daughter was “too needy,” desperate” and was “smothering him.” 

An Armstrong acquaintance at his Livestrong charity institution reportedly said that the sports champ felt a bit “smothered” by Hudson, who allegedly was “just too needy” and came on "too strong, too fast … sensing Kate was way too desperate, a woman who clearly can't be on her own without a man in her life at all times." 

The insider added that Armstrong reportedly like ex-Sheryl Crow’s independence, which made their relationship last as long as it did. The source claimed, "Sheryl's one very independent woman. … Lance liked that."
