Reports: Freida Pinto to Star in Woody Allen Film

After starring in the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto is set to play a role in iconic filmmaker Woody Allen’s upcoming movie, various sources claim.

Pinto, 24, reportedly caught the eye of the three-time Oscar winner after Slumdog Millionaire bagged eight awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Danny Boyle) at the recently-held Academy Awards.

The model-turned-actress confirms the reports and credits Boyle for her forthcoming role in Allen’s film, telling morning program Today, "Yes, it's up (begins) in July (09). So thank you, Danny Boyle, for helping me take off."

Allen, who is also a 17-time Oscar nominee, has helped Hollywood actresses gain recognition for their craft. The most recent of them is Penelope Cruz, who won Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Christina Barcelona at Sunday’s Oscar event, in addition to Mira Sorvino for Mighty Aphrodite, Dianne Wiest for Hannah And Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway, and, Diane Keaton for Annie Hall.
