Pop superstar Michael Jackson has recorded an “astonishing” number of songs that he wants released to his children after his death.

According to Ian Halperin, writer of the soon-to-be-released Jackson autobiography, the Thriller hitmaker has recorded over 100 tracks in secret. Jackson says he wants the songs to be heard only by children Prince, 11, Paris Katherine, 10, and Prince Michael II, 5, after he dies.

Halperin says, "I was astonished by the number of songs which have been held back. I was told that he will not let them come out now but wants to leave them for his kids, a very personal legacy to them."

The author has spent five years doing research for the book, titled Unmasked, The Michael Jackson Story, which will be released in spring.
