Eddie Murphy Ordered to Pay Millions in Child Support
Actor Eddie Murphy has been ordered to fork out $51,000 a month in child support to former partner ex-Spice Girl Melanie Brown until the 22-month old baby turns 18.
Aside from paying roughly $10 million, Murphy has also agreed to see the child. According to the settlement, Brown gets full custody of their daughter, while Murphy gets visitations rights.
A friend of the singer was quoted as saying, “Mel is delighted that the case is over. She just wanted what was right for the girl.”
Brown made headlines in 2006 after her short affair with Murphy bore baby girl Angel Iris. The actor set off a word war with her after he announced in the same year that he was not the father of the singer’s baby. On Dutch TV show RTL Boulevard, Murphy said, “I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test.”
He subsequently underwent DNA tests that proved he was indeed the child’s father. The actor was reportedly “convinced that Mel B manipulated him, even scheduling a C-section so that their baby would be born on his birthday," April 3.
