A church minister claims that singer Mariah Carey has indeed married short-time beau Nick Cannon.

According to People, Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God claims that he was the one who presided over the couple’s nuptials, carried out the union, and gave the sermon.

Petty, who offered no other details about Carey and Cannon’s marriage, administers most marriage ceremonies in the Bahamas area. While members of rapper-actor Cannon have confirmed the swift marriage, neither the pair nor their representatives have talked about the reports.

Carey, 38, and Cannon, 27, reportedly took out a marriage license on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera. The two allegedly were married in the singer’s luxurious home in the Bahamas last Wednesday, April 30.

Wedding rumors began when the singer was seen wearing a diamond and platinum ring on her wedding finger during the Tribeca Film Festival held at New York. The sparkler, which was reportedly designed by jeweler Jacob Arabo, is said to be identical to the one Cannon gave to his former fiancée Selita Ebanks.

Carey and Cannon met in March 2008 during the video shoot for the singer's single “Bye, Bye” in the Caribbean.

An insider tells People, "Nick was cast as the romantic lead and was flown to Antigua where they met so basically their [romance] started during the shoot."

The source adds that Mariah is "very into religion and Nick is very into religion. That's something they bonded on."
