Mulder and Scully Are Back
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are back to reprise their roles as FBI special agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder for The X-Files: I Want to Believe, the sequel to The X-Files: Fight the Future released in 1998.
The New York Times reports that the film’s plot has been shrouded in secrecy by writer/producer/director Chris Carter.
According to the publication, all that’s known is that the two agents will be dealing with a “difficult case” in which Scully will seek the assistance of a disillusioned and ostracized Mulder.
The request will lead to a “stand-alone frightfest that involves a missing agent, a psychic, a manhunt and probably a few monsters lurking in the night.”
In the NY Times interview, Anderson says the film will also revolve around Scully and Mulder.
In the hit series The X-Files (1993-2002), which catapulted Anderson and Duchovny to stardom, Scully began as an agent who was profoundly skeptical of the paranormal, while Mulder was a firm believer in aliens and government conspiracies.
