ABC is bringing Jennifer Lopez and her 2002 hit Maid in Manhattan to the small screen.

The series, to be adapted for TV by Lopez, will be an hour-long dramedy believed to match up with Ugly Betty, as both shows feature Latina actresses.

Chad Hodge, a writer involved in the show, says that the show will feature the Bronx maid’s romance with a wealthy guest and her relationships with her co-workers.

Hodge adds that Bronx-native Lopez has been very involved, offering a “fountain of ideas. She will be very integral in the pilot and series.”

Though ABC has reportedly ordered a pilot of the show, there hasn’t been word yet as to when the series would be aired.

The 2002 movie featured Lopez as a maid in a chic hotel struggling to make it when a guest mistook her for a fellow guest and fell for her.

Meanwhile, Lopez is in the pre-production phase of two movies scheduled for release in 2009Love and Other Impossible Pursuits and The Governess.
