Singer/actress Hillary Duff is returning to television in her own series, NBC said Friday.

Duff, whose most famous work is Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, has signed a one-year development deal with the network. Apart from getting her own series, the 21-year-old actress is also set to appear in other NBC programs.

Details of the deal are yet to be worked out for the Texas blond.

Teri Weinberg, executive vice president of NBC Entertainment said the actress was "an incredibly versatile talent with a huge following."

The NBC executive added, "We are confident we will develop great ideas that would feature her vast talents and are thrilled to have this opportunity."

Duff starred in the teen movies A Cinderella Story (2004) and Material Girls in 2006. She has three movies due for release in 2009, but has yet to bring back the colossal success she enjoyed after Lizzie McGuire, which ran from 2001-2004, became an international hit.
