Britney Spears Tops Billboard Chart
Pop princess Britney Spears’ first single off her new album has landed on the top of the US Billboard music chart.
Womanizer, the first cut taken from her new project called Circus, achieved over 286,000 download sales in its first week of release, marking her first number one hit in nine years. Baby One More Time hit number one in 1999.
The track scored the highest jump to the top spot in Billboard Hot 100 history after it shot up 95 spots from previous week’s 96th position to get there.
Womanizer also topped the iTunes charts in France, Sweden, Spain and Canada.
Spears is planning a major tour in 2009 to promote Circus, which is scheduled to hit record stores on December 2.
